GreenPoint started on 1st of October 2012 and it´s going to be fulfilled on 30th of September 2014. Its general objective is to spread the green culture in SMEs from the metal sector. It provided a training recourse to these SMEs accessible for all types and levels of individuals working in the sector. The results were really positive and encouraging.

The partner countries of the project are Spain, United Kingdom, Poland, Germany and France and the training course is available in Spanish, English, Polish, German and French. Until today almost 100 metalworkers from all the partner countries were trained as GreenPoints.

The GreenPoint course has duration approximately four hours and it is made of four main modules :





Module 1. General environmental issues

This module, 37 pages long, makes an introduction to the general environmental issues our planet is facing.










Module 2. Enterprise and environment

 The second module focuses at the impacts of business and industry on the local environment (for example air,  noise and water pollution). Amongst others  it informs the trainers about the types of waste (inactive, active non-hazardous, hazardous) and has some activities to help them realize what we are practically talking about.









Module 3. Benefits for the enterprise through environment improvement

 Reducing the environmental impact of a business will not only have benefits for the environment but also for the company. Module 3 focuses on these  benefits (financial benefits , better working environment, working in line with legislation).

It also informs us about key Environmental Legislation at EU Level.







Module 4. Environment control and innovation measures

The module covers tips for Environmental controls to prevent pollution and environmental innovation to increase efficiency and cut costs. 





All the modules are followed by small quizzes which consist in three questions each , in order to verify the consolidation of the information given.

Also, the course includes an evaluation of ‘’before after’’ competences for each participant, giving full value to the training in terms of skill acquisition.

 Once all the modules are completed the participant can download his Certificate of Completion.                    

Below we can see some results obtained in the midterm of the project, concerning assessment before and after training:

  • in France  before the training, only 9% of the trainees had a result between 12 and 14/14. After the training, they are 73 %. The general average raised of 1,7 point;
  • in Germany whereas 33% of the trainees had  between 12 and14/14 at the beginning of the training, they were 54 % at the end. The average raises of 0,8%;
  • in Poland noone obtained a mark over 12/14 and 75% of the trainees obtained a mark under 10/20 before the training;
  • in Spain 60% of the trainees obtained a mark between 12 an 14/14 at the end of the training, whereas they were 10% at the beginning. The average raised of 1.2 point;
  • in United Kingdom 92% of the trainees finished the course with a mark over 12/14. 



In addition, there were some questions given to the participants in order to examine their satisfaction from the project. In the table we can see the answers of the total of 40 participants in the five countries. 39 of the 40 respondents believe that the objective of the training is reached.
